There was some storm today. It has been a very hot and humid week, very hot. The heat wave finally broke a little bit with this wicked storm. At about 2:30 it started getting darker outside, then darker. Finally it started thundering and raining, and getting louder. At about 3:00 it got so dark outside all the street lights turned on outside in Main St in Port Jeff, it was so dark it literally looked like it was 8:30 at night, like a half hour after sunset and that is no exaggeration. The sky was so black, and I mean BLACK. The rain was coming down outside by the gallons and the storm drains in the streets quickly filled up after ten minutes and over flowed ankle high water all over Main St. Lightning bolts were flashing everywhere and thunder clapping loudly, and the flowing water in the streets was turning into a flood. It was insane I loved it. Everyone at work upstairs was looking out the windows in amazement.
At about 4:00 after the storm was over one of the guys came into our room and said we got to check out the parking lot, it was deeply flooded and up to his bumper. We went out to the parking to see about a foot and a half deep flood at the deepest part. One of my co-worker, Kevin's, car was in the deepest part of the parking lot and the water had gone much higher then his bumper and way up on his car doors. We took our shoes and socks off and rolled up our pants so we can walk up to our cars to see if any water got inside. Kevin's car was flooded with muddy water, the seal around his car doors didn't keep any of the water out at all. It's a brand new silver colored Civic that's leased, he only had it for a few months. I was bummed that I didn't have my digital camera to take pictures of all of this, so I ran up to the local drug store just around the corner from there and bought a disposable camera, the cheapest one there was $10. It was some no name brand I have never even heard of, the other two that they had were Fuji and Kodak, but those were $12 and $14. I just grabbed the cheapest one, I think I should have bought one of the other ones because the pictures came out a little grainy unless I'm just too used to my digital camera.
Took pictures of the whole flood and Kevin used my camera to take pictures of his car, he might need them for his insurance. On the way home I stopped at the CVS just down the street from home and dropped the camera off to be processed in one hour. After CVS I went over to the Stop & Shop next door and picked up some soda and some food for myself and at about 5:45 I arrived home.
Alison Smith was still over from the sleepover last night with Brooke, they were watching Julia and Samantha. Mom and Dad were both still out, they had gone to the funeral home for Joel and for his burial. After Mom came home she asked if I could get a pizza, so I ordered a pizza at Matts and picked it up when it was ready. After I was finished eating I ran back out to CVS to get the pictures and then came straight back home.
Later that night Alison's mom, Kathy, came to pick her up and Kevin came with her and came upstairs to my room to hang out with me for a few minutes. Brooke and Alison was showing Kathy pictures. My mom had gone out somewhere so she wasn't there at home. I showed Kathy the pictures of the whole flood and told her about the whole thing that happened.
The day started off a normal day and ended a crazy one.
